I am beginning my 8th year with Alpine Online and I continue to enjoy getting to know our students and families and being associated with such a great program! My husband and I have 3 sons and 1 daughter, all of whom attend school in the Alpine School District. I am originally from Idaho, but I have lived in Utah County for the past 24 years minus the two years my family lived in South Carolina. We love living in this wonderful area with so many fun things to do. In my spare time I enjoy reading, cooking, and doing things with my family.
Chantel Adams- Advisor
Email: cadams@alpinedistrict.org Chantel-Adams-240x300I am very excited for my 9th year as an advisor in the Alpine Online School. I love this program and the opportunity it provides for children to learn and develop at their own pace within their homes. I am continually impressed with the efforts, time, and dedication our wonderful parents have in teaching their children. I grew up in Vernal, Utah, where I loved the small town atmosphere. I later graduated from BYU in Elementary Education. After that, I had the opportunity to teach 3rd and 6th grade. My husband, Ryan, and I have 3 children which we absolutely adore. Some of our favorite things to do are camping, swimming, fishing, watching movies, and going to Disneyland. In my free time I love to run, travel, and spend time with family and friends. I am grateful to work with such wonderful families that are so involved and committed to their children's education. I look forward to building relationships with each one of you!
Gina Witt - Advisor
Email: gwitt@alpinedistrict.org Gina-240x300I’m Gina Witt, and I love working for Alpine Online School. This is my eighth year working for the Alpine School District and, prior to moving to Utah, I taught for seven years in southern California. I’ve spent most of teaching time with sixth graders, but I’ve taught all elementary grades with the exception of Kindergarten and 2nd. One of my favorite things about teaching is that lightbulb moment, when a child makes a learning discovery. Working with Alpine Online has made those moments even more special because I get to see it through the eyes of their parents, which is a unique situation for a teacher. I look forward to working with our great AOS families as we embark on another exciting year of learning!
Julianna Burnside- Advisor
Email: jburnside@alpinedistrict.org Julie-Burnside-240x300Hello, my name is Julie Burnside. This marks my 18th year of teaching and my 9th with Alpine Online. I graduated from BYU with a BS in Elementary Education and then and then went on to get my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University. I love working with parents who are so invested in their children’s education. I have always believed that parents are a child’s first teacher and working with parents through Alpine Online has only strengthened this belief. On a personal note, I have been married for 18 years and have 3 handsome boys ages 13, 9, and 7. My husband and I are scuba certified and love to vacation anywhere where can go diving. We have been to Mexico, California, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Our boys keep us busy running all the time. They love to be outdoors and we enjoy camping, biking, boating, fishing(with grandpa) and being with cousins and friends. I look forward to a great year and working side by side with you as we navigate our way through the curriculum and build a relationship of trust. I love my job and love working with the great families in Alpine Online.
Kathryn Persch- Advisor
Email: kpersch@alpinedistrict.org Screen-shot-2013-03-11-at-7.24.51-PM-240x300I am very happy to be starting my 10th year as an Alpine Online advisor. Time flies when you are doing something you love, and I truly love working with our amazing Alpine Online families. Their dedication to providing the best educational experience for their children is a driving force in our program. I love my involvement with every family as we strive to create an exceptional learning experience for each child. Since I have homeschooled my own two boys in the program for the past 6 years, I know the K12 curriculum firsthand and understand the various struggles accompanied with schooling at home. I graduated from the University of Utah and have had a well-rounded background in the education field the past 21 years. I've taught in both public and private schools, tutored students of all ages, had my own preschool, and even developed curriculum for a small K-2 school. In the homeschooling arena, I have studied and incorporated a variety of homeschool curricula over the past 8 years. I appreciate all the different options available to meet the unique needs of individual students. I have a wonderful family I love and adore. We live in Midway and really enjoy small town life. For fun, I enjoy reading, hiking or road tripping with my family, and (my guilty pleasure) finding treasures in thrift stores. My passion for education and desire to connect with and serve others is perfectly combined in my job with Alpine. I enjoy the exciting and challenging experiences that accompany the education of a child. I'm here to help and support families in any way I can.
Bre Ahrens- Alpine Online Special Education
Email:bahrens@alpinedistrict.org
Bre-Ahrens-226x300Hello! My name is Bre Ahrens and this is my 8th year teaching for Alpine School District. I taught a small group autistic kindergarten class for 6 years, and this is my fourth year with the Alpine Online Program. I graduated from BYU with my Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. After spending four months in Romania working in an orphanage, I found my passion in the field of Special Education and feel blessed to do what I love every day. I grew up in California and met my husband at BYU. We were friends for about 4 years, when we realized that best friends make the best spouses! We were married in December 2008 and now have 2 year old twins. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is working with parents to create individualized programs to make learning successful for their children with special needs. I’m impressed with the parents involved with the Alpine Online Program and their dedication to their children’s education, and I am excited to be a part of it.

Our Curriculum

The Alpine Online School uses the curriculum provided through K12.com, Pearson Connections, Saxon Math, K12 World Language and Rosetta Stone Foreign Language. Kindergarten students may order 3 courses per academic school year. Students in grades 1-8 may order 6 courses per academic school year. The appropriate level, pace, and hours spent on each objective varies by child and adult supervision is required. Your enrollment counselor will work with you in determining the best curriculum fit for your child's academic needs.
K12 Curriculum The K12 curriculum touches all learning styles and academic abilities and creates a sequence of objectives that builds toward mastery of a rich set of knowledge skills. “Tried and true” lesson activities enhanced with technology give students the practice they need to master the objectives. To ensure mastery, every objective is assessed when it is expected to be mastered, providing direction for further instruction and pacing.
